THE MAGICAL OFFBEAT

In music, offbeat accents arouse the listener's need for rhythmic movement, because the subconscious mind wants to connect the two through a movement from the forward accent to the unaccented beat to “heal” the beat and accent falling apart. In magic, offbeats describe deliberately set moments in which the audience is relaxed and distracted - these attention gaps allow to create illusions that something impossible has happened. The brain diligently tries to "heal" these logic gaps - failing to succeed - the specators are astonished.

Luis Carr and Peter Fleckenstein let magic and percussion clash in a powerful beat, combining improvisation, virtuoso measures, magic and absurd comedy.
